    hope this helps lol...

  2. In terms of physical differences the easiest way to tell the difference between the two is that a crocodile has a very long, narrow, V-shaped snout, while the alligator's snout is wider and U-shaped. Because of the wide snout of the alligator it packs more crushing power to eat prey like turtles that constitute part of its diet. The narrow crocodile snout, although still very powerful, is not really suited for prey like turtles but is very versatile for fish and mammals.

maybe this will help, hope so,

  3. The Alligator has a broader snout and less pronounced teeth. The croc on the other hand has a narrow snout with snaggle-teeth that protrude outside the mouth.

There are both fresh and salt water crocs and i believe alligators are freshwater.

  4. Last time I checked, Crocodiles are the typical species you think of when I say Alligator.

However,  they are different. Crocodiles are a deep green, and have triangle shaped snouts. Alligators can be anywhere from lime-green to beige, and have a long, thin snout, similar to a straightened-out tree branch.

  5. one is saltwater the other is freshwater

  6. Alligators are only found in America

  7. The first difference between a crocodile and an alligator is that they are from different families of crocodilians. Crocodiles are from the crocodylidae family, while alligators and caiman are from the alligatoridae family.

In terms of physical differences the easiest way to tell the difference between the two is that a crocodile has a very long, narrow, V-shaped snout, while the alligator's snout is wider and U-shaped

Another physical difference between the crocodile and the alligator is that the crocodile's upper and lower jaws are nearly the same width, so the teeth are exposed all along the jaw line in an interlocking pattern, even when the mouth is closed. They also have an enormous 4th tooth on the lower jaw that is accommodated by depressions in the upper jaw just behind the nostrils.

An alligator, on the other hand, has a wider upper jaw, so when its mouth is closed the teeth in the lower jaw fit into sockets of the upper jaw, hidden from view. Only the teeth of the upper jaw are exposed along the lower jaw line. Even the enormous 4th tooth on the bottom jaw, which is exposed in a crocodile, is hidden in the alligator.

Another physical difference is that crocodiles have a lighter olive brown coloration, while alligators appear blackish. Alligators also prefer freshwater while crocodiles like brackish water and sometimes even ocean.

  8. Snout shape is actually a potentially very misleading way to tell crocs and gators apart.  It works for some gators and some crocs, but there are crocs with relatively broad gator-like snouts and caimans (Latin American alligatorids) with comparatively slender snouts.

Occlusion is a better and more consistent way to tell them apart.  Alligatorids have a complete overbite, but crocodylids have interfingering teeth and the lower teeth are visible when the jaws are closed.

  9. The shape and length of the snout for one.

  10. The difference is in the snout crocodiles have quite narrow ones .. aliigators broad ones ... or is that the other way round ..?? but that is the defining factor

  11. the same principle applies for Alligators and crocodiles as it does to Elephant's(eg Indian and African depend's on their ears) the name is given as to where the reptile is indigenous to....eg.Aligator's are found in America and only like freshwater, and Crocodiles are found elsewhere in Africa and like both fresh and saltwater...one has a longer nose the other is more rounded...sorry not much help[ :-(((

  12. I've no idea, but i'd love to know!!

  13. Alligators have wider, rounded snouts.  Crocodiles have longer, pointier snouts.  The crocodile also has a tooth that sticks down.  Alligators are less aggressive towards people.  There are no alligators in Egypt.  Therefore there are no alligator mummies.  Alligators can run better on land than crocodiles.

  14. An alligator has a boxy snout whereas the crocodile has a rounded snout.

  15. one starts with a "C" and one starts with an  "A" .

  16. Theyre from different families of the crocodile.

A croc has a nrarow v shaped kind of snout

but the aligator has a wider u shaped kind of snout.
