What is the difference with Dress Circle and Grand Circle in theatre seating? I am interested in seeing a musical and the online booking site asks which location I'd prefer - but don't know what these two terms mean.

  1. These terms often differ between theatres.  To play it safe be sure to have a seating chart of the theatre in front of you when ordering tickets.  I take it you are living in the UK (I'm in New York), playbill.com has seating charts of most theatres in the West End.  But to answer your question, generally Dress Circle means the first balcony above the floor level, grand circle the second, etc.  Hope this helped!
