  1. HUH???

Isn´t sognefjord IN Norway?  And what's with the nutshell?

  2. The main difference is in how you get from FlÃ¥m to Bergen.  Assuming you do a one-way trip from Oslo to Bergen (the same is essentially true for the reverse)...

The Sognefjord in a Nutshell itinerary is:

    • Oslo to Myrdal by train

    • Myrdal to Flåm by Flåm railway

    • Flåm to Bergen by express boat on the Sognefjord

    The price is 1405 NOK

The Norway in a Nutshell itinerary is:

    • Oslo to Myrdal by train

    • Myrdal to Flåm by Flåm railway

    • Flåm to Gudvangen by Fjord ferry (through Nærøyfjord)

    • Gudvangen to Voss by bus (with a scenic photo stop en route)

    • Voss to Bergen by train

    The price is 1240 NOK

You can find the 2008 timetables and prices here:

    Norway in a Nutshell:  http://www.norwaynutshell.com/visartikke...

Which one is better?  Personally I lean towards the Norway in a Nutshell itinerary, because of the slower boat on the fjords and the sailing through Nærøyfjord.  Also, the bus trip back up the mountain is kind of nice and has some great views.  I think I just like the variety.  However, if you want more time in the fjord, the Sognefjord trip will be on the water all the way to Bergen, and I've heard other people say that they prefer this trip instead!
