  1. Housing is often used as a term that encompasses the University-operated housing-dorms, apartments(Some schools do not have this), etc.  The cost for this is often called Room & Board (Usually also includes the price of a meal plan of some sort).

I should specify when I say apartments, I am referring to some that my university runs.  Of course there are other off-campus apartments too.

  2. Housing is what an college or university provides to students who pay a fee to live on campus.  A dorm is the most common name of the individual building where a student lives. (Freshman housing is dorms for freshmen only, Coed housing has both men and women living in the same dorm (but usually on separate floors - not sharing the same room). Many dorms are named after someone or something - such as the John F. Kennedy dorm.

Room and Board is the combined cost of living in a dorm (room) and having a meal plan (board) that allows you to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in either a specific cafeteria or at any eating place on campus.

    Make sense?

    good luck

  3. Normally the "dorm" is part of University Housing. Most university have dorms for students to live in.. and I know others require students to live in the dorms. The on-campus fee is probably for a dorm.. most apartments or houses at universities are considered off campus.
