  1. Democrats are those who were elected by the people.

and republicans are those who elect them

  2. Bill and Hillary Clinton will do ANYTHING

AND I MEAN ANYTHING TO WIN

folks watch what happens the next 3 days

THE CLINTONS ARE NOT JUST GONG TO LOSE

you know they will WIN at any cost.

  3. SUPERIOR INTELLIGENCE.  that's ironic.  I think that Democrats have so far to the right in recent years.

And I think of it this way

Conservatives: every body's on their own, I got mine, sorry you didn't

Liberals : The people should join together as a community with the people with the most help the ones that have fallen of the ground

  4. practically nothing now.

But, if you wanna know the difference between conservatives and liberals...

    conservatives: support independence

    liberals: support dependence

The republican party tends to have more conservatives and the democrats tend to have more liberals.  But as far as the parties as a hole, the republicans have shifted so far to the left that its scary - its tough to tell the difference between the 2 parties now.

maz, you said it yourself...conservatives support independence and liberals support dependence.  You just said it in another way. Think of it any way you want, but it is the way it is.

how have the democrats shifted to the right? - their 2 main leaders right now, hillary and obama, are pure socialists.

  5. In theory or in practice?

It used to be something, but not so sure lately.

As long as corporations need to pay for the financing of the campaigns, it isn't nearly a large enough difference.

However, in the past, Republicans are looking out for the top 1% of wage earners, they are looking out for corporations, and not much else.  They want as little government as possible, and will get elected to prove just how badly government is compared with private industry (Example: the gross mishandlings of Katrina)

Democrats care about everyone else essentially.  Particularly the middle class and the lower classes.  They have championed for labor laws and for better working conditions for those in the workforce.  They are the ones who have brought about significant changes such as maternal leave to have a baby that is mandated, etc.  I wish that the Democratic party went even further than this.  I wish that a livible wage was mandated to be paid by all companies and that tax incentives weren't given by Republicans to companies to take American jobs overseas.  The jobs that were here paying a living wage-one whereby only one parent had to work-and one was able to stay home and care for the home and children-now have been shipped to China and many other places.  These jobs are done for pennies on the dollar by slave labor at times, by human trafficing and by child labor.  It is truly a disgrace.

  6. Republicans are more conservative fiscally but more restrictive of freedom.  Democrats believe more in personal freedoms and are fiscally quite a grabby bunch.  LIBERTARIANS, on the other hand are fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

Libertarianism is the pinnacle of free thought.  Remember this is not a two party system unless you allow it.

  7. Day and night Just read the child like, name calling ,fault finding, anti American post here and you well see what I mean ..............Interesting didn't name names but you liberal know who I was talking about you

  8. That's a big question and not easily answerable.  First things first--Democrats and Republicans are two parties, but they don't encompass all political thought.  There isn't a right and a wrong answer to every question.  Not every Republican believes the same thing; not every Democrat does, either.

But the main differences are (I admit now that I'm a Democrat, so I may be biased)

Republicans believe that government should be restricted as much as possible.  They'd like to see social programs cut--Affirmative Action, or Head Start, say.  The more extreme Republicans would say that the Department of Education is a waste of time.  Under George Bush, the exception to this rule is Privacy--the current Republicans think that the Government should be able to research you--monitor your phone calls, know what books you check out of the library, what websites you visit, etc, without a warrant.

Democrats believe that government can do good things in the hands of competent people, and they believe that if you live in America, you should have to pay for the things you get for being an American.  That means taxes for roads, for Social Security, etc.  Most democrats also believe you should have The Right of Privacy, which covers (in theory) abortions, sexual freedoms, and the right to read a book without getting a visit from the FBI.

The best way to know what they stand for is to listen carefully, critically to the candidates.
