  1. Flemish Belgians speak Flemish, which is a dialect of Dutch. Walloonians speak Walloon, which is a dialect of French.

  2. I see the regulars of travel europe (tonalc, LaFeeFan, Sue, Orla) have given you great answers as always so there is no need for me to add more

However I will add that the answers that they have given is to no avail as clearly we have a point gainer in operation ie Chelly asks a question and Victoria D answers (or in other question supports and TD's other users"

  3. Walloon and Flemish are actually dialects of the French and Durch language. If you know people that speak either french or english as their home languages, you must have been in Canada. That does not exist in Europe.

Walloon is a french dialect, spoken in the southern part of Belgium. I call it a dialect because of some peculiarities. For example the number 98 would be "four × twenty, ten-eight" in France, in Walloon just "ninety-eight".

Flemish is a Dutch dialect, almost identical to the language spoken in the Netherlands.

Justification for calling them dialects is the fact, that Dutch and French, besides German for a minority part of Belgium inhabitants, are the offical languages in Belgium.

  4. It's considered a dialect of French, but is different from the French spoken by the Belgians (except those in Wallonia) .

Flemish (a Belgian variety of Dutch) is spoken mainly in the north, French in the south.

  5. They speak mainly French and Dutch.  Walloon is like french and Flemish is like Dutch

  6. Walloon is basically French.

    Flemish is basically Dutch

they are dialects, actually, spoken in Belgium.

English is NOT an official language in Belgium
