I know one says 120 hz but what does that mean? Is the more expensive one really that much better?

  1. Well there is 120hz and there is 60 hz. 120hz is brand new techonolgy and is not common in most HDTVs right now. And what it is is that it replaces the images faster basically saying that it has a higher response time. This can make the make the image much less blury when the image is not blury. But if all the devices in your house are HD 60hz shoould work just fine. 120 hz is only really needed when there is SD content

  2. just a higher refresh rate so no delay in you picture

  3. Man $1200 is a BIG chunk of change ....

And I can ONLY RECOMMEND IT for people who watch SPORTS (fast ones only!)  or who really need FAST in gaming.....

Otherwise it is not necessary to have the 120 Hz refresh rates...

    Now, what does it do?

Do you by chance have a camera with an lcd display for the pictures?  If you ever watched one, you would notice that when you brought up a picture, the image is blurry at first, then suddenly SHARPENS up.....

That's because it takes TWO passes of video to create your picture...the 2nd pass actually fills in the detail, while the first one is a "rough in".

And if your're watching HI SPEED [[anything]] moving around on your TV, it doesn't get a chance to "fill in the details" on the 2nd pass....it's always moving!

    And that makes pictures blurry.....

So....SONY decided that the smart thing to do is speed up the passes so that BOTH occur before one frame gets changed on the TV signal.  That will deliver EACH FRAME of picture to the TV screen in perfect detail....and then they went one step further...

It refreshes 4 times per frame of picture, which guarantees they will be 100% sharp !

Now....if you're a sports enthusiast or gamer, then it's WORTH THE MONEY..

But for everybody else being entertained by TV shows with slow moving actors....it would be overkill on that.

  4. Absolutely, I'ts 500 times better

Its currently the best looking LCD out there.... it looks INCREDIBLE with the 360/PS3 and Blueray! and pretty much anything else...

Cnet.com just gave the 52 inch version an 8.0 ratingmaking it their best rated LCD tv!! (it also comes in 40 and 46 inch versions)

I've seen this tv myself... and trust me.... this tv is NO JOKE!

    The picture quality is STUNNING!

It has 1080p, 120hz, 50:000:1 Contrast ratio, 4ms Response time, Game/movie/sports modes.. pretty much all the latest goodies to look for in an LCD.. (better response time and contrast ratio than the Sony XBR).. plus it looks cool too (it has a red bezel) Currently Beachcamera.com has the lowest price for the 40 inch model at around 1500

Here is the Cnet.com review for the Samsung LN-52A660

    Samsung LN-40A650:

I HIGHLY recommend the Samsung LN-40A650

    Hope I helped

    Good luck!
