  1. Vegetarian do NOT eat any animal flesh (red meat, fowl, Pork, Game, fresh water fish, sea food). They eat plant foods (Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, Dried beans, Legume, Nuts). They may or may not eat eggs or dairy products. Vegetarians do NOT eat cheese made with Rennet.

  4. vegetarians don't eat meat. lacto ovo vegetarians still eat dairy products and egg but i'm vegan and we avoid all animal products, not just for food but in clothing and various other products. a vegan believes that people do not have the right to use an animal in any way.

  5. vegans don't eat anything that comes from animals eggs, dairy etc... vegetarians do both obviously don't eat meat be a bunny's honey don't eat meat http://.www.peta.com/ =^..^=

  6. Vegetarians may or may not consume eggs and dairy products. Vegans wouldn't touch the stuff. Also, vegans don't wear animal products, use them in their homes or anything. Nothing that an animal helped to make will benefit a vegan. However there are claims that no one can ever really be a true vegan because animals are utilized in sooo many different aspects of everyday life. I'm a vegetarian...

  7. VegEtarians don't eat dead animals.  So, no meat and no slaughter byproducts, like gelatin, rennet, lard, meat broths, etc.  They may or may not eat foods from living animals, like milk and eggs.

Vegans don't eat, use, wear, purchase or otherwise consume anything of animal origin whatsoever.  So, no meat, no slaughter byproducts, no dairy, no eggs, no honey, no leather, suede, wool, fur, silk, or down, and no cosmetics or toiletries made with animal ingredients or animal testing.  Vegans also avoid industries that exploit animals for entertainment, like circuses and rodeos.

Vegetarianism can be either a dietary choice or it can be extended to lifestyle, but veganism is by definition a lifestyle.

  12. Vegetarians do not eat meat.

Vegans do not eat animal products (dairy included).

Each person may have their own definition of what each is though depending on their personal preferences and philosophies.

  13. My understanding is (right or wrong):

A vegetarian is simply someone who does not eat meat or slaughter by products. No other meaning or quality is implied and it pretty much limited to food.

A vegan on the other hand, follows a lifestyle which seeks to limit or minimize human exploitation of animals. This includes but is not limited to food. That's why vegans on principle, do not consume eggs, dairy products, honey etc. Nor do they use any products including clothes and furniture which have been obtained from animals.

Neither are automatically associated by default with animal rights groups especially PETA. Reasons why people become one or the other range from religion to animal compassion to health concerns etc.
