What is the diffrence between a hairstylist and a cosmetologist?

they are the same.  cosmetology is the study of hair, skin and nails.  most choose just to concentrate on hair though, but are trained in skin and nails as well.  and as a licensed cosmetologist you can either just do hair, hair and nails, hair and skin, or all 3.

Mandy B is right.  Whether you title us as a hairdresser, hairstylist, beautician, cosmetologist, or whatever else, we are all the same.  We have the same cosmetology license that allows us to do skin care, hair, nails, makeup.  There are also separate licenses available for those who choose to specialize in a specific area. But cosmetology covers it all.
