I was kicking back and really trying to absorb the universe and its never ending potential. Who are we? What is this thing called life that we are going through? Whats the purpose? Why is the universe so massive?

  1. Humans/the planet/the moon/the sun are all related in that we are made up of stardust.

  2. Hmmm... it's a question of being, really.  Were we created?  By whom? And, for what purpose?  Could there be others?

My own view is that there is, indeed, a creator.  I hope we're more than just smart, animated meat walking on a planet by accident.  If it turns out that's all we are, well, I hope to leave a better existence for my children, and their children, if possible. In either case, we are made of elements that came from the hearts of stars;  and, when the sun begins to die, the Earth will be consumed by the sun during it's Red Giant phase, again, returning to the heart of a star, for our final resting place.

Whether you believe in God or not... our fate is still kind of poetic.

  3. It is thought that the carbon that was necessary for the start of life of Earth came to the proto-planet on comets as well as heavy elements.  The perhaps millions of comets that crashed into the early Earth is also thought to have brought all the water that fills our oceans.

    .

That is the direct relationship of humans and space, but the answers to the rest of your questions are only revealed to us after we're dead.  The questions of the ages they call them, and they've been asked by humans who have looked at the stars for thousands of years.  Just a blink of an eye in cosmic time.

  4. We are part of the consciousness (the observer) that "transforms" the wave into the particle.

"We" are the "process" of creation the "bang" of the big bang. We just "think" we're people ;-) ,"living" in "time".   That's my story :-)

  5. First off the question that you have stumbled upon is a quite popular one in the minds off many people nowadays so if you do happen to ask someone this question you will probably not be dissapointed, second off I do recommend psychedelics to jumpstart your reasoning for life and your answer. Overall life is something that we will spend our entire existence coming to figure out, but take everything you think of and hear with a grain of salt because some things just don't need to be thought about. Enjoy your life and everything that happens to come your way, and you speak of potential well take that in considerance with your definition of life because we are the ones who have all of this potential within ourselves, and one last parting word go do something you enjoy and then you will find what life is all about

  6. Monty Python has as good an answer as anyone.  However, it's more of a philosophy question than an astronomy or space question.

  7. What if just about everything you thought you knew was a lie?

    Stick with the Bible kid...

  8. We are energy beings...if you see that mass has an energy beginning through vibration.

Life is intelligent and all connecting. Life has the opportunity for consciousness to reconnect back to God and  to understand the universe. To raise up into greater awareness and to give back. All life is meant to raise upward to approach that of God consciousness.

The universe is massive so that intelligent life can explore it and make use of it. It is not there to look at only, it is there to traverse.
