  1. Ive heard that it changes the shape of the fibre in the clothes so they dont last as long. Its also a fire risk to use fabric softener then dry clothes in a dryer. I use softener on my towels (which I line dry) however because I love the smell it leaves and they do feel nicer on my skin.

  2. the first answer is a good one but I would like to add that fabric softener also coats your fabrics over time, thus making items like towels less absorbant. You can always use a cup of vinegar from time to time to freshen and soften your clothing.

  3. No, as the first answer said it is bad for the tumbel dryer filter if you use dryer sheets.  If you use liquid softener then it builds up inside your washer and can block or cause smells and on your clothes.  Softener makes towels (and other clothing) less absobent as it is made of oils and coats the fabric.

  4. I know that the dryer sheets can leave a film on the lint trap, so you have to wash the lint trap from time to time.
