What is the disadvantage of waiting for the support and promotion of te senior colleague?

To me, we need to wait our turn, no matter what.  There is no disadvantage or advantage.

We can only work as hard and efficiently as we can so that we are in the prime position to accept the promotion if and when the powers that be deem that it is our time.
