I need this by tonight for a project. Good estimates are okay, too.

  1. 3700 km or 2400 miles this is an estimate

  2. The other answers are OK.

John Cabot sailed from Dursey Island, Ireland (extreme western point) to Cape Bonavista, Newfoundland in 1497 which is about 1890 statute miles. He became the first European to visit North America since Leif Erickson and some Basque fishermen.

This distance is almost exactly half the distance from the Canary Islands to the Bahamas which Columbus had sailed in 1492, 1493-95, but before his 3rd voyage in 1498.

Despite this much shorter distance (which he could cover in just over 2 weeks), Cabot was not able to reproduce his voyage. He was lost at sea with all hands the following year without a trace.

Leif Erickson only had to go about 715 miles at sea to get to what is thought to be his settlement in Newfoundland since he left out of Greenland.

  3. The total distance from Saint Johns, Newfoundland to London, England is 2,328 miles.  This is equivalent to 3,747 kilometers.
