Question:

What is the downside of getting pregnant as soon as one finishes college?

I'm old enough, engaged, mature so no need to talk to me like a teen but how negatively would it affect my future career by getting pregnant as soon as I finish college? Will it seem as though I've fallen behind because I'm not with all of the other fresh just out of school students starting careers?

Or could this potentially work to my advantage as no maternity leave would come up (only want 1 for now) and I would have already attained my personal family goals.

Just wanted some opinions, thanks.

  1. I think that its a decision that you need to make based on what your heart tells you. The weekend I finished college I got married and the week after my husband and I graduated college. I will tell you tho that most of my "friends" from college I don't even talk to anymore. When my husband and I got married people started to act really different to us and we didn't kno why. We are currently TTC and we have decided that it was time for us to start a family and move on with our lives. It is a weird transition not going out and living the college life but we are much happier! In my opinion having a family is what life is all about!! GOOD LUCK to youuu!!!!!!!

  2. I got married and had my first by the time I was 22 years old. First let me say that I love my kids more than life itself. But there are times that I think that later would have been better. The cost of raising kids, whether it be one, two or ten, is outrageously expensive. For instance, mine are 5 and 8 years old and it cost right at $400 to get them back in school this year. If you work for a while and build a nice nest egg, it could prove to be very beneficial from a financial aspect. Even though it doesn't make sense, this is a very money oriented country we live in. Keeping up with the Jones' has taken on a whole new meaning. The older the kids get, the more expensive their tastes get. If you've set yourself financially, it might flow a little easier. And bringing children into a brand new marriage is always a little tricky. It could prove to be really great or it could put strain on the new union. Be sure in your relationship before bringing a child into it. Finally, don't do anything that you're not comfortable with. If you're hesitant, follow your instincts.

  3. I had my daughter fresh out of college, the day after actually. And my life couldn't be more perfect.  I couldn't tell you the downside honestly. Only the good side. Oh and I am never about basing having kids on your financial situation as long so you have a steady job. I don't have all the money in the world but my daughter doesn't lack for anything, as long as you are willing to make certain sacrafices there is no need for your child to not have something they should have. I barely even work, I go into work every once in a while if someone really needs me, and other than that my fiance works and we do just fine, and we raise our 5 month old, pay our rent, electricity, cable, internet, water, gas , car payments, insurance, and we don't have money for all the extras that we would love, we spend the extra on extra things for our daughter, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't need material things. I have my family and they are all that I need.

  4. It doesn´t matter how mature you are you´re still young. Even if you have a good partner whowill help you with everything you need in life what happens (no offense) of he dies, losses his job, or leaves you alone as a single mom. I´m not saying i´s imposible to be one but to do so you have to have a steady income of money that you can all your own, a place to live, etc... I can´t tell you what to do, this is just an opinion you willuse to make a conclusion but I really would wait just a little longer.

           Hope I helped. Good luck

  5. There is no good time to have a baby.

There is no bad time to have a baby.
