What is the dress code for Carnival Ecstasy? Casual and formal?

are jeans ok in the dining room at dinner? what is the attire for the formal dinners/midnight buffet/etc.?

All Carnival ships are very casual, but jeans is not welcomed at the dinning room.

But any other pair of pants and a shirt are ok.

On formal night a suit and tie are required, but they set up a part of the Lido restaurant (that is usually self service) to serve a la carte with no clothes restrictions. Even bermudas are ok.

Used to the the same menu that was being served downstairs at the dinning rooms, but I think it has changed, now its another menu.

Its pretty ridiculous the whole formal night, since most people just put on some lousy suits anyway.

Depending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code. Formal Wear: tuxedo (optional); suit and tie; sport coat, tie and slacks; evening gown; cocktail dress; pantsuit Casual Resort Wear: sport shirts and slacks; dresses; skirts; pantsuit NOTE: Shorts, t-shirts and bathing attire are not permitted in the Dining Room during dinner.

As you can see, except for formal nights, there is no rule against wearing jeans at dinner, and in fact, many do.

last Carnival cruise I went on I wore a suit and a tee shirt on formal night and my father in law didn't even wear a jacket..but i think he did feel a little out of place..nothing was ever said..

We sailed the Ecstasy in 2006.

We had a party of 20 guests.  Many of the guys wore jeans to the dining room every night except the formal night.  

Since the Ecstasy is based out of Galveston, TX, they get many folks in cowboy dress.  In fact, my Dad wore a sports jacket, dark jeans, a cowboy hat and boots on the formal night.  All the waiters and casino dealers were calling him John Wayne.

Just don't do shorts in the dining room.  Shorts are OK for the buffet.

It gets really cool at night so you definately want to take along some jeans/dockers for the evenings.
