I am going on a 4 night Baja/Mexico Cruise on Carnival/Paradise. For day, are tank tops/capri pants/jeans/shorts okay? And for night, are you supposed to wear a formal dress every night for your sit down dinner? Thanks.

  1. The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM. So take swim wear, shorts, sandals, beach shoes,  sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym.  Pretty much whaatever you have and want to wear will be perfectly acceptable.

After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, shirt with a collar, slacks, skirt, blouse, etc. You can still wear shorts and swim wear in the pools and spas but not in public areas like dining rooms and restaurants, show rooms, bars, casino, etc.

Your cruise will have a formal night when you can wear your best stuff and get pictures taken, and maybe meet the ship’s Captain. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. But most people do dress up in a tux for men and a long dress (any color) for women. Some men just wear a suit and tie and some women wear a nice dress but not a gown. You will not be denied access to the dining room or anything else if you choose not to dress up. (we usually take off the formal stuff after dinner and pictures anyway).  Since the formal stuff is not REQUIRED you can just dress casual every night if you want.

  2. there is no dress code during the day, but at night there will be one day where u have to wear a formal dress....2 nights where u will have to be semi-formal, and one day where it is casual...for more info contact ur cruise line....hope this helps!!!! = ]

  3. On a four night cruise they only have one formal dinning night. All the rest are casual. On the formal night you need to wear dresses and suits. For daytime around the cruise ship tank tops and jeans would be fine. Just not during dinner.

  4. Dayware is casual.  I usually just wear jeans and a casual shirt.  The only dress code that they have is in the dining room.  They do not allow shorts or t-shirts.  They will have on formal night, but formal is not required.  They do not require tuxes or evening gowns.  I have even seen people in the dining room on formal night in jeans and a flannel shirt.  The most important thing is to relax and have fun.  That is what it is all about.

  5. You don't have too. You can always eat in the open dining room off the Lido deck.  As you probably know, that is where you get bombarded with pictures. whether you want to buy them or not. When they say formal, they mean suits (almost Tuxes) and Ladies long formal gowns. I ate in the open dining room for most of the 12 day Mediterranean cruise I just came off of. Get yourself a soda drink card if you would like something other than the juices they have inside. My daughter was suppose to be treating me. Then at the end of the cruise she gave me the bill with my portion underlined. That hurt.

  6. The day attire is fine. The night time attire is different. You will probably have one formal night so a summer dress, or cocktail dress would be appropriate, but something fancier then casual wear. For semi formal a nice skirt/pants and blouse are fine, or a nice pant suit, and then for casual, khakis, polo, skirt, blouse, pants, blouse are all fine. Hope that helps.
