What is the drinking age in pubs in the UK now?

Ages ago (when I was young!) you could drink a pint in a pub at 16 if you had it with food, but I think they've upped the age recently to 18? Is it legal for 16 years olds to have a drink at a private dinner party?

  1. well its gone up to 25

  2. The legal age is 18.  Most public pubs/clubs will ID you if they think you look under 25.

  3. In public:

At age 16, you can order a drink (beer, wine, or cider - NOT spirits) with food (note: you must be accompanied by an adult to do this in England or Wales). This has been the case for a long time and has not changed recently.

Otherwise, the minimum age is 18. Again, this has been the case for many years now.

    In private:

Alcohol must not be served to a child under the age of 5. Apart from that, anything goes. So no, it is not illegal for 16 year olds (or even 6 year olds) to have a drink at a private dinner party.

  4. i think only after becuming an adult u shud drink $ smoke

  5. You have to be at least 18 to drink in bars etc. But they will ID you if you look under the age of 25 years old(well they are supposed too).

  6. you have to be 18 in a public place.

at home you can drink from 5 years old
