What is the driving deadline?

What is the driving deadline that decides when you get to drive? I have heard that kids that were born in 1993 (and after) were not allowed to drive until they are 18. Is this true? And could you maybe cite your source if you had to look it up?

  1. This is the stupidest, most persistent rumor out there.  I'm not even going to bother asking you what state you're in.  No, it's not true.  Next time go on your state's DMV website and look it up.

  2. With driver's ed, and a hardship endorsement, you can drive as early as 15 in Tx for work and school. At 16 you can get a "provisional" license that lasts until you're 18, provided that you've had driver's ed. At 18 you can get an unrestricted license whether or not you've had driver's ed.

Other licenses available are class M, restricted licenses, for people 15 or older, which restricts the engine size of the motorcycle to under 125 cc.
