  1. I'm an instructor and I would say average driving distance for the average quality golfing male is roughly 190-230.  I will also add that the importance of driving distance is SO over inflated. The short game at all levels of play is what separates the men from the boys.

  2. I'm on the highschool golf team and have been competing since I was 9, so the kids I play with are a little better than the weekend hacker.

    Normal is about 250-265

Anything under 225 is pretty bad, thats about how far I hit my 2 iron.

I average about 285, but I have hit it over 330. My average is similar to pro tour, the differance, they are a lot more accurate than I am.

  3. outstanding average 275

    normal 250

    below par 200

  4. Many variables but overall I would say an outstanding drive is 300+ yards, average 230 to 260 yards, anything less than that is not too good.

  5. Well it really depends on the golfer and the equipment that they are using to.  But for the sake of argument we will keep it simple.  Golf magazine actually did a huge a research on all the balls on the market to determine which one is good for you.  Now rememeber that your clubhead spead plus ball determines your distance.  They determine that the average golfer swings his club 90mph.  The longest ball that actually flew the farthest was the Titilest NXT Extreme at that speed.  The club being used for driving was a 10.5 degree Taylormade R7 Superquad.  The ball flew 257 yards and believe it or not Nike One Platinum flew the least at 239 yards.  However when they increase the speed to 105 mph all the tour balls finished at the top.

I would asume that the average golfer probably drives the ball anywhere between 250-260 yards.

  6. As of 1999, the average [male?] golfer's drive done in a study is actually 205 yards.  My guess is that it's on level ground with normal conditions, so that's your typical range number, with good measurement- hits often look to go farther than they really are, or someone's inflating their ego.  Or the range has their markers shorter than the numbers say.  It's probably more like 220 yards on the course, with a little wind or a little downhill.  If you measured every drive, you'd find that there actually aren't all that many people who can reliably hit a true 250.

The link will tell a bit more details about the studies on average drive.

Bad: 170-180, use your 3-wood instead

    Average: about 200-220

    Good: 250

    Outstanding: 280+

  7. It really depends on size, swing, and as much as people try to say it doesnt   strength does play a role in it

Im 15,my average drive goes 255 or so

My dad who is 50 hits his 255 or so

35 years of difference and the same yardage,,,ur yardage will increase with practice

  8. I drive about 400 yards

200 straight and 200 left haha

Just kidding, I got like, 200 something when I was lucky, but distance isn't really important compared to accuracy for "an average golfer"

If you're around 200 and straight on you're good

  9. 200-220. Good is above 250 bad is below 200. Normal is 225-240 carry with about ten yards of roll.
