  1. USA - Official census at least every ten years at the beginning of each decade.  The constitution mandated this in 1787.  The USA uses the first year of the decade.

UK - Every ten years since 1801.  The UK uses the decade year ending in 1.

Japan - Japan has officially gathered data on that country over a period of 135 years from 1868 to 2002.  Japan's census is now conducted every five years by the Statistics Bureau of Japan.

Russia - first recorded a census in 1897.  They did not have a census during World War 1.  They do not have regular census intervals but have a census at least every ten years or sooner.

China -   Census of China goes back to 1949.  The People's Republic of China conducted censuses in 1953, 1964, and 1982. In 1987 the government announced that the fourth national census would take place in 1990 and that there would be one every ten years thereafter.
