What is the duration of an entry on Chexsystems?

We have bank tellers saying its 7 to 10 years and the following website says it's 5. Which is it?

  1. The CORRECT answer is until you resolve whatever got you INTO the system in the first place.  Unlike the credit bureaus, Chexsystems is NOT covered by the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Your entry will be updated by the bank you owe for as long as THEY care to do so.


  2. Chex reporting will show up for 5 years.  It is not a credit reporting issue, it is only in the system that banks use to verify if someone has had an account closed for nsf or fraudulent activity.  There are some banks that will open an account if you have a reporting as long as the reporting is not for fraud....
