I am 14, am I allowed to start learning to fly Cessna's, or something similar. How much does it cost to get the license to fly for commercial airlines like American Airlines?

Thanks!

  1. You can start learning to fly but your solo and licences will depend on the rules and regulations in your country.

Commercial Licences leading to jobs in the major airlines should cost between   $ 50,000 to 60,000 including your instrument and multi-engine ratings. Please consider this a ball park figure since I am not aware of charges in your area.

  2. The earliest age you can learn to fly is when you are competent enough and your feet can reach the pedals and arms to the yoke. The cost for your commercial license will vary depending upon how you do it. I plan on getting mine by going through college. You could go military and become qualified. Finally, there are special schools that can specialize in airline pilots.

  3. Man i tell you this question gets old.

"how do i become a pilot"? Life isn't always going to be Yahoo answers.......You have to research things on your own. It isn't that hard man.

Right now focus on your grades. Many people will say start whenever you want......Don't.

    They Know nothing.

Once you turn 16, then go to a flight school and begin for the future.

Focus on school which is important in the long run.

Answer is yes you can begin training whenever you want but can't obtain anything private pilot's licence until your 17.

To get all your ratings it my cost well over 75k.

Good luck and take it one step at a time.

    PS

And i know people Will tell you to stay away from simulator games and you should until you learn the basic principals of flight. We have idiots on here that never stop asking about FSX.

  4. Yes, you're allowed.  In the US 14 and 16 are the minimum ages for soloing in gliders and airplanes.  Visit local airports and speak with instructors about beginning flight training.
