1.  What would you do with the grants?  Develop a plan backed by research.

2.  Troll for lists of appropriate grants.  Check the requirements, especially the filing deadline for the grants you are trying for.

3.  Fill out applications completely and accurately.  Do not skip lots of sections.

4.  Go through the proper chain of command.  Do you have the authority to use your organization's name to apply for this grant?
