Can the air from a hair dryer over your ear be used to dry up your ear canal after you've gone swimming and can't get some water out of your ear?

  1. NO! Don't use a hair dryer! The best thing to do is put a couple of drops of rubbing alcohol (or, a mixture of rubbing alcohol and vinegar) in each ear for a couple seconds. The alcohol increases the evaporation rate of the water and helps kill bacteria.

  2. Use Swimmer's Ear drops (essentially just rubbing alcohol, which works fine--though the swimmer's ear drops are 95% alcohol versus 70% for rubbing alcohol).

I actually bought Swimmer's Ear drops for the dispenser bottle, and now refill the bottle with rubbing alcohol.  Much cheaper option.

  3. Use a clean warm DRY washcloth or hand towel and place it over your ear and lean or lay your head down with the towel or washcloth against a pillow.

Stay that way for a couple of minutes and the warmth and dry with draw the moisture toward the towel and out of your ear.

If you have water in both ears .. repeat on opposite side.

  4. i know this sounds weird but it is a at home remedy what you  do is you take a piece of news paper roll it into a cone shape light the end on fire and the blow it out and then stick it into your ear this draws all of the moisture out and do it as many as times as needed
