the best ways I know of are:

1. get someone to be your "refer-a-friend." Often, you can find somebody locally. When I did this for Full tilt, I was given an additional 50% sign up bonus.

2. Many poker sites have sign-up deals, and some are seasonal. Shop around for the best deal you can get. 100% sign-up bonus is not unusual.

3. Find a referral site like rakeback.com and sign up through them. they get a commission on your rake, and will split that commission with you, thus increasing your return.

4. Stack 2 or more of the above together. When I signed up at Full Tilt, I got a seasonal bonus and a refer-a-friend bonus, and got back over 100% on my initial deposit.
