What is the easiest way to get fit? I am looking to get fit in the off season for rugby league early next year

  3. There are no easy way's to get fit bud.  It's hard freakin work!  Your best bet is to get the right type of fitness.  Running long distances is not what you need for League.  You need to do interval training which is short intense bursts of work followed by short recovery periods.

    If you want to go running, then jog 15-20 minutes and stretch and then start sprinting for 20-30 metres and then walking for 20-30 metres.  Use power poles or telephone poles if you want, sprint one, walk one, sprint one....

    Do this with any exercises.  It gets your body used to the bursts of activity and recovering really fast, which is exactly like a game situation.  You cart the ball up at full speed, get tackled then you have a chance to recover while the next guy takes a hit up.  Same thing for the backs, they aren't constantly running the entire game, the big boys chew up a few tackles and then the backs usually have their chance for the last 2-3 tackles.

    Make sure you are doing this for your entire body too.  If you have a punching bag or something, tuck your elbows into your side and do really fast short punches against it for 30-40 seconds and then rest for 30-40 seconds.  After 2-3 minutes your arms will be jelly!
