  1. It's not rocket science, if I can do it anyone can.  Choose the wall that you see as you open the door.  Find the centre and draw a straight line vertically and another horizontallyy near floor or use the skirting board if its straight.  You then start from the vertical line at the bottom and tile out from there.  Use a ready mix adhesive and grout.  Take your room measurements to the tile shop and they will work out how many tiles you will need.  Use spacers, little crosses, between each tile.  You may find that the wall aren't straight this isn't your fault, you haven't made any mistakes, but you may need to adjust the spacers to keep everything in line.

The only good tip I can give you is to buy an electric tile cutter, they cost about £30 for Wickes and are well worth the investment.

If you need any further advise please email me.

  2. You spread tile adhesive on the wall and place the tiles. That is the only way to do it.

  3. hhmm pat a made no cense to me. the only thing i can say is to hire someone that knows what there doing(specially in a shower) because a shower needs special handling due to water. you need to cover the walls with a special paper membrane and hot mop the shower pan. if not you could damage the studs behind the walls and it can get more costly than if you would of hired a proffesional

Trust me ive seen nasty water damge

  4. It is easier if you use the premixed mortar and grout but the process is basically the same no matter how you do it.  Any walls inside the shower or tub area will need cement backer board and waterproof membrane.  If your not sure how to do this attend one of the free siminars at Home Depot or Lowe's.  It's not that difficult to do but it is also easy to botch up if you don't know what you are doing.

  5. You pay a professional to do it.

  6. This is not an easy task for the laymen to tackle you really have to know want your doing, or your going to cause a big mess and have a problem on your hands I know I've done it in the past and it was a big job just in the cutting alone.

  7. phone a tiler
