My friend and I just got new macbooks and are wondering if there is an easy way to transfer the music from my home computer onto each of the macbooks. Does a chord that can directly connect one macbook to the home mac easily exist?

  1. Connect the two mac with a firewire cable, reboot one of the macs while holding the T key. That will make this mac behave like an external firewire drive.

Then just navigate to the iTunes library, copy it and voila!

  2. Use a firewire cable

  3. Check out MP3Lingo.com support page.  They have great customer support and don't check if you already have an account with them or not.  They respond fast and wont charge you for support if you just pretend like you are a member.  If that doesn't work, you can just sign up and get music through them.  It's very cheap and they have a ton of music. Try it out when you get a chance, www.mp3lingo.com.

  4. Sure - use an ethernet (network) cord.  You could even do it over a wifi network.  Just turn on Remote Login (I think) in your Sharing prefs

  5. As others have mentioned, you can use Target Disk Mode, a capability built in to all Macs. You will need a Firewire cable to connect your two Macs together. You can find instructions for using Target Disk Mode at Apples web site:

WHile Target Disk Mode will work, I would personally just use an Ethernet connection between the two Macs and just share the disk that has your iTunes library on it. Then you can mount the shared disk and copy what you need.
