What is the education path to become an elementary school teacher?

I'm asking this one on behalf of my wife. She is starting school this year (after a few year break), and she has the ambition of teaching in elementary school. She would just like to know the correct course in getting to that point.

-Can be a substitute after getting associate's degree and applying with the county and schools

-Field experiences starting as early as 2nd semester

-Have to pass Praxis exam (should take in Junior or Senior year)

-Bachelor's degree after student teaching for a semester

-Apply at schools and get hired
