What is the effect of a hypertonic solution of sugar on red onion cells?

i am lookin for a good description which is easy rememberd i am also looking for the name given to the cells in this state please.

  1. When there's to much solute it pulls the water from the cells and when there's to little it make the cells swell. hyper is too much, so swell then bust.


  2. Water will leave the onion cells by osmosis resulting in the contents  of the cell coming away from the cell wall in a process called plasmolysis.  The cells are said to be plasmolysed.
