  1. From a disease perspective, global warming has expanded the normal ranges for several plant diseases to be viable and thus cause crop losses.  The microbes which cause plant disease are governed by the same rules as all other microbes, one of the most important being temperature ranges.  In cases where areas which previously enjoyed colder temperatures but now have more days with higher temperatures, some bacteria and fungi are now able to thrive.  One example is a Phytophthora species which causes defoliation and death of shade trees in Europe.  The range of this pathogen, which was previously limited to southern regions can now be found in more northern regions.  This is not an agriculture disease, but the same principle applies.

  2. The corn belt will move north, into Canada.

  3. Consider this: Eighty percent of the world's population lives within a band fifty miles from the shore line.  Even if there is no global warming and  what is transpiring is just a routine cyclical effect, the ice caps are melting and eventually will begin to encroach upon those people living too close to the shore.  Many islands will be eliminated.  The inhabitatants will flee to nearby population centers.

Accoring to the National Weather Bureau, massive hurricanes will increase in number and severity because of slight temperature changes in ocean currents.

Farm land for crops and orchards will be eliminated.  Food shortages will become common.

Starvation, disease and death will result along with panic, violence, and murder.

    When will this happen?

When the oceans of the world rise high enough.

What can we do about it?

Live on man-made islands.  Live beath the surface of the sea.  Build high rises on mountain tops.  Colonize the American interior.

    How can I visualize this?

Place a topographical map of the world on the floor.

Color all the areas blue that will be affected by a three foot rise of the oceans, then brown for the next six feet, then red for the next three feet, then yellow for the next six feet.  Now we are up to twenty feet! Can the oceans rise any higher?  How many acres of crop land are under water? What percent is that of the total?  How many cities have been displaced?  How have other nations been affected?

What are your conclusions?  Will you send me a copy?

    Thanks,

    CrG

  4. Do you want the truth? There is no effect of global warming on agriculture.

  5. Thus far, we have seen some major drought, major flooding rains. We have not yet seen any increase in frost-free days, as defined the predictable number of days between last frost  of spring and first frost of fall. On the contrary we appear to be having killing frosts later in spring.

Some people have been predicting a gradual warming into the north would allow us to grow crops further north. That does not appear to be happening yet.

Where our irrigated lands of southern Alberta are dependent on mountain snow melts, we are getting earlier  flow that overfills the reservoirs but leaves them empty too early. We are seeing more flooding and more drought close by.

But of course none of this is because of global warming, or if it is,  it must not be our fault.

  6. Hello

Global Warming will certainly affect the Agriculture.

Agriculture in all world depends on Air/Cloud/Sea Wind etc.

Due to climate changes Rains are affect, If Rain affect crop will affect, if crop affect, shortage of Food will rise,

If shortage of Food, you imagine your self.

    Global Warming affect the following

    1.It affect Rain

    2.It afect Wind also

    3.Drought also comes

    4.Crop diseases will be more

    5.Wilting of Crop

    The above are main points.

  7. In less developed countries global warming COULD cause increase draught and famine... changing weather patterns are also a major concern.

it is predicted the next major war will be as a result of water rights (not al queda ... remember Iraq and Afghanistan are conflicts like Vietnam)

More developed countries have less concern with water because of irrigation but changing weather patterns are possible there still... Economically they could overcome these problems and come out on top by exporting more goods to less developed nations poor and impoverished by the draugt and famine

but regardless please do not listen to what Al Gore says, hes a huge hypocrit and his movie made my head hurt.  Im not saying global warming doesn't exist but the history of the Earth is full of climate change, we humans are just helping it along
