  1. Symbolism in poetry enables the writer to convey images directly to the mind of the reader - it serves almost like an emotional short-cut. For example, the use of the symbol of a swan conveys tranquility, stillness, peace etc. without the need for added words.  Symbolism in poetry produces the same feeling as music.....music doesn't directly tell a story - but it conveys a mood and conjures up images.  At least this is what I think the role of symbolism is in poetry.


  2. it really is 2 get u thinkin...as u kno poetry is a more stylish way of expressin 1's  feelings...some poetries r based on real occurences n therefore ppl try 2 get sum sympathy n give u a sense of exposure 2 wat life is like through their eyes :-)
