  1. In the upper atmosphere (stratosphere), ozone acts to absorb ultraviolet radiation emitted by the Sun and thus limits the amount of this higher energy radiation reaching the surface.

    Ozone can also be generated at the surface.  It's main effects are to create respiratory problems as it can interact with the lining in the lungs and cause inflammation.


  2. The ozone which is found near the surface(ground-level ozone) is an air pollutant with harmful effects on the respiratory system of animals and human beings.it is a key component to smog.It is also considered as cancer-causing agent and affects our immune system.

    But the ozone which is found in greater concentration(ozone layer) in the stratosphere,helps us by absorbing the harmful Ultra-violet radiation of the solar radiation.These UV rays otherwise will cause

    skin cancer,eye cataract and affect the plants which are sensitive to UV rays.
