The passing of this law helped wildlife in a variety of ways, not least with regard to Planning Laws. When someone asks for planning permission to build, say, a large supermarket or school or manufacturing plant, then the local planning department have to consider the impact of the building upon wildlife and and the countryside. The Planning Department take advice from various bodies, such as nature conservation trusts and can refuse planning permission if the plans are a threat to the wildlife or countryside.
