  1. The effect of world food supply is pretty straight froward, people have to eat, if the food supply is short, people starve. The number of  plants or food crops will increase as more marginal lands are brought into production to help relieve hunger. Animal numbers will decrease because they are less efficient at food production than plants.

  2. Plants and animals ARE the world's food supply.  Every species will tend to overpopulate when adequate food is available. When this occurs in localized areas, famine results.  People and animals will tend to migrate if possible  Plants that exhaust the nutrients in an area will die out if nothing replaces these nutrients.  Secondary growth depends on the availability of nutrients for another species.  Without nutrient replacement or secondary growth, desertification occurs.
