I am looking for a email address or phone number of Amsterdam's Police Station so because I've lost my digital camera while I was there on holiday. I want firstly to see whether it's been handed in and secondly, I need a reference number if I want to claim on the travel insurance. I want to get it back as it contains a lot of memories.

  1. To be very honest with you, I have to say that the chances that your camera would have been handed in to the police is very slim, but of course it is always worth a try

Here is a link to the contact details of the Police.  They will re-direct you to the correct section/station as required (even within the Netherlands you call a general number for non-emergencies and not a specific station) http://www.politie.nl/English/#Contact.  There is not an Email address listed

However.......... normally when you have lost something in Amsterdam (due to the size, amount of people who visit etc), it is indeed normally handed into the police, but they pass this to the Lost and Found Bureau" (Gevonden voorwerpen) which is what the police will tell you if you call them.

Here is a link to contacting this bureau (the details are in Dutch) http://www.politie-amsterdam-amstelland....  Again there is no Email address, only a phone number so you have to call 011 31 20 559 3005 (from the US to NL)

I have given you both contact details (Police & Lost/Found bureau) as whilst you must check the Lost/Found bureau to see if you camera is there, I am not sure if they will be able to give you a report for your travel insurance.  You may well have to contact the police for this (but you can check with them)

  2. The Amsterdam's police station has not published an e-mail address for inquires, just telephone number and mail address.
