What is the entry payscale for a deckhand in the SE U.S.?

I am seriously considering employment as a deckhand on a barge. How is the pay and what is it like?

gulf of mexico, utility boats, dkhand makes about $125-$150 aday& free food, I'm an a/b & I'm at $275 aday

For a union job as an Ordinary Seaman on a tug and petroleum barge unit, figure starting at about $50,000/year. Non-union, maybe 2/3 of that, if you're lucky.
