  1. In Sweden they are working with something interesting. Here is what their website says: "Within a week and a half after death, the corpse is frozen to minus 18 degrees Celsius and then submerged in liquid nitrogen. This makes the body very brittle, and vibration of a specific amplitude transforms it into an organic powder that is then introduced into a vacuum chamber where the water is evaporated away."

Your remains can then be used to fertilize a tree, rose, etc. in your memory.

  2. There is a growing movement towards "green" burials. The person is not embalmed and buried in a biodegradable coffin in a forested area set aside for that purpose. The graves are marked with simple stones or signs. Paths wind through the woods for those wanting to come and visit the grave. This concept is more popular in the UK than the US, but there is at least one cemetery here in North Carolina...I believe. There may be others now, I read this article over a year ago.

  3. eat it....

  4. Leaving it out as carrion.

There are some societies that do this.

    They are called "air burials"
