What is the equivalent of Clayfield in Brisbane in CAIRNS in terms of style of people etc?

I am moving to Cairns in Sept08 and want to know what is the best suburb to live in. I currently live in Clayfield in Brisbane, and want something similar in terms of socio-economic status of people etc..

  1. I'm in Cairns - never been to Clayfield, although Brisbane many times, wouldn't have a clue on the suburbs though.

    (personally for me, the Northern Beaches are a GREAT place to live, such as Trintiy Beach, Kewarra Beach, Palm Cove and Clifton Beach)  15mins from city itself


  2. I would say that Edge Hill would be the hub for 'professional' types -  a suburb on the north side with lots of upmarket housing in the hills, and with a small suburban-type shopping centre containing delis, boutiques, hairdressers, etc, even a chocolate shop. Lack of 'annoying' tourists.

  3. Some areas cost more than others. Cannot tell any difference in style of people . Some areas more white than others, is that what you mean?
