What is the etiquette in saunas and steam rooms in Australia? Is nudity allowed or do you have to cover up?

A towel in a public sauna...at least..

Have to wear a towel or speedo's.  You can try going nude if you like, but expect the place to clear out quickly or someone to give you a ribbing.

I think you have to go in fully clothed for winter skiing on penalty of death...

When I was using saunas in Aus. -  if it was all females you had the choice - naked or wrapped in towel. If it is a mixed sauna I would say definately wrapped in towel. Though I guess there would probably be some places where mixed company wouldn't care what one did.

depends on how much of a show off you are or what you want to invite - two of the pools with saunas/spas nearby are known for heavy inhabitation of guys who like guys and who take nudity as an invitation.

and one is known for females ditto.....

it's discreet and sensible to wear budgy smugglers or a towel in any public bathing place.

im pretty sure you need at least speedos or a towel but its always good to ask the staff first before you get arrested for public indecency lol
