well, it will be approx 18-20 kms or much lesser.

Triplicane is almost in the heart of the city, So if you are travelling from triplicane, till adyar there would be heavy traffic during peak hours. After adyar it would be fairly light traffic, except they are laying roads in old mahabalipuram .

If you have bike, it would take you 30-40 mins. Car is different story all together.
