What is the extent of the ability Klutz? (Pokemon DP, buneary/lopunny)?

I'm trying to get my buneary to max happiness before lv 13 so it will become lopunny and learn return.

I have the Soothe Bell on it, but will klutz negate it's affect? Or is this only in battle?

klutz will activate for all items excpet for exp. items like exp. share and macho brace those kind of stuff. but here a good combo for klutz, get a bunnery with switcheroo, give it a lagging tail, but with klutz it wont work, then use switcheroo with ur oppenent, ur oppenent's pokemon will get lagging tail and it slow it down. and switcheroo is a egg move, but ull get ur item back after the battle is over. and if u ever want to join a pokemon clan here's a good 1, its fairly new and we're have a tourney coming up its pokemonwifiisfun.bubblelol.com
