What is the face paint that football players put on their face?

I know what its for. I just dont know what the name of it is for.

Well it originated as a substance to keep glare out of the players eyes. Black obsorbs light that might otherwise be reflected into eyes. However, now it is basically the accepted thing to do. i e it is cool

Eye black is just greasepaint (theatrical make-up) that comes in a stick form.  There are also black adhesive strips that are similar to band-aids.

More than likely, I'm guessing your talking about the eye black, it helps reduce the glare of light, via sun or stadium lights. Some players paint it on face, a lot of times you'll see strips under the eyes.
