what is the family tax benifit supplement and when does it get paid? i am a single mother and and look after my 9 month old son 5 days a week. do i have to do anything to get this payment? and how much gets paid to me?

  1. The suppplement is $600 per child per year.  It is paid once you have lodged your tax return or advised the ATO of no need to lodge such as if your income was below the threshold.


  2. You need to contact the ATO to register for FTB. The amount you are paid depends on how much you earn, and will vary from roughly $50 - $100 a fortnight. It is based on the financial year earnings, and calculated by the ATO on the basis of the estimate you give them. If you have not done last years tax return yet, register, and you will be back payed for the last 9 months.

  3. You need to contact family assistance office...They will give you a clear picture of what you can earn. Or visit their website.
