What is the fastest and cheapest gas route to Kansas from California by car?

I'm traveling from Los Angeles to Kansas City in a Mazda 626 '96. I get 25 miles a gallon. I usually take the Southwest route. I.E, LA to Needles to Flagstaff to ABQ to Gallup to Liberal KS et cet.

  1. Interstate 15 through Las Vegas and into Utah.  Then Interstate 70 directly into Kansas City.
