I have a friend of mine who wanted me to marry them in there country and bring them back to the U.S. as my spouse so they could obtain a green card. So I was curious if there is a faster way and safer/legal way for them to obtain the green card so they can stay here.

  1. Marriage would be the fastest......The other option would be to find a job in US and let the employer to apply for Green card and there is also a green card lottery...

  2. Marriage to a US citizen is indeed the fastest way for a foreigner to get a green card, but to marry for the purposes of immigration fraud carries a 6-figure fine and several years in federal prison. Assuming you don't get caught, you have to commit to having a fake relationship/marriage for years before the foreigner can be "free"; and even when they divorce you, you're still liable to support them financially for up to 10 years or until they become a US citizen (or they die, or leave the country). If they cost the government anything, you'll have to pay the government back.

    Obviously I don't recommend it.

I suggest you take a look at http://www.uscis.gov/greencard for the various ways one may obtain a green card, but all the avenues other than marriage to a US citizen are very difficult and time-consuming.

  3. Marriage is the fastest way.  It is also a felony to marry for the purpose of immigration fraud and you can be sent to jail and your friend deported.

  4. Legally.

  5. Marriage! Good Luck, and keep this kind of things secret so you wont be in trouble.

  6. If you are a citizen of U.S.A then  that way is the safest and is legal.

Advantages and Benefits of US Citizenship

Only United States citizens can obtain a U.S. passport.

U.S. citizens can reside abroad for longer periods of time, while Green Card holders may have their permanent resident status revoked.

Green cards must be renewed every 10 years for a fee (currently $ 370), while citizenship once obtained does not expire or need to be renewed.

Many countries have waived visa requirements for U.S. passport holders, while Green Card holders with native passports may have to apply for visas in advance.

U.S. citizens are eligible to receive additional services and assistance from U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad.

U.S. citizens do not have to carry proof of citizenship, while green card holders must always be able to proof their legal status in the United States by carrying a valid Green Card. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has detained permanent residents who did not have their green cards with them.

U.S. citizens have the right to vote in the United States.

THE RIGHT TO SPONSOR RELATIVES AND FAMILY MEMBERS SO THEY CAN IMMIGRATE TO THE UNITED STATES.

United States citizens cannot be deported, while green card holders may be deported in certain cases, such as being convicted of a crime.

The right to run for public office.
