Fiber. Verizon is offering fiber in more locations and it is the fastest connection I have ever had. I have 15Mbps up and down for $60 a month and it is great.

Wi-Max - Very fast, but extremely limited service area

A cable modem is currently the fastest affordalbe and widely available  connection  at around 10-15mbps.  DSL will match that speed in the next year or so for most carriers.

I dont want to get your hopes up if you cannot receive this service (since I don't know where you live) but Insight broadband 2.0 is 20Mbps!! Check their website to see if you can get that, sounds pretty sweet to me. If not, just search for 2.0 service in your area. Google baby.

How much you want to spend?  An OC192 would be the fastest!

OC-192 - 9.6 gigabits per second (4 OC48s)

At least the fastest I know of... but bring a big wallet!

More realistic is AT&T Uverse 10mbs for around 100/mo with TV!  Or Verizon FIOS at 10-20mbs for just a little more, if they cover your area!
