  1. Yes, that is correct according to:

I wouldn't be surprised if another horse broke that record in the next 3-5 years.  The previous record was held for 30 years, and it was only 1 second faster!

  2. Mr. Light holds the record for the fastest (officially recorded) mile ever run by a horse. The horse was 6 years old and carrying 118lbs. It was recorded at Gulfstream Park 1/03/2005. The time was 131.41 seconds. The race was run on turf

  3. Lola C is correct, Mr. Light in 1 minute 31 seconds and 41/100s of a second (1:31.41).  There was some controversy at the time because Gulfstream Park had just installed a new turf course and the teletimer had malfunctioned several times during the meet.  Here is an article discussing how the record was officiated http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/racing-...

The world record on dirt is co-held by Dr. Fager and Najran.  Dr. Fager set his record in 1968 at Arlington Park in an amazing performance.  Back then race times were recorded in fifths of seconds.  His official time is 1:32 1/5 seconds.  Nowadays we record times down to hundredths.  Najran's record was set at Belmont Park in 2003 and the official time is 1:32.24.
