  1. The current world record in the women's 100 meters is 10.49 seconds set by Florence Griffith Joyner of the United States July 16, 1988 in Indianapolis.*

As for training tips, basically you need to build speed, tons and tons of it. The most ideal way to do this would to be to run slightly longer than your event (100m) so 200m would be ideal. You can sprint these 200s, and give yourself a comfortable amount of rest intervals. As I am a distance runner, I am not ver knowledgeable in sprinting but I can tell you that this is the most basic sprint workout. Build speed, speed, speed.

Considering you are not yet in highschool, I wouldn't even think about starting to train, or else if and when you do become the "fastest woman on earth" you might have burnt out as a result of starting your training too early.

My advice to you now is to just wait until you enter high school, try out of your Track and Field team, and let your coach train you.

Hope this helps and good luck with your quest to become the fastest women on earth!

*As you know the Olypmics are currently occuring, and within the next couple of days a new world record might be set for the women's 100m, so watch out.
