  1. Well, the fastest 'proper' train is the French TGV, which is an EMU (Electric Multiple Unit). The fastest train of any kind is that Shanghai Maglev.

The fastest steam train in the world is a British Class A4, designed by the famous Sir Nigel Gresley. It's number is 4468, and it was named Mallard after it's designer thought of the name while feeding the ducks! This record, is, however, disputed, as an LMS Princess Coronation may have been faster, which were designed by Sir William Stanier. Also, a German or American loco may have beat it, but all the claims except Mallard's are unofficial.

Mallard has now been Preserved, along with another steam icon, the Flying Scotsman.

  2. we dont know exactly :

some people say the french TGV

others say the german Magnetic Levitation

and also some people say it's the japanese city train.

I'd say it's the German Mag lev because every two years they make new ones, faster than the older. Besides, what causes a vehicle not to go very fast is the friction with the ground, that's why planes are faster than cars.

  3. The Shanghai Maglev is currently the fastest passenger train in the world offering regular passenger service but it is not a true railway train because it is a single vehicle supported by magnetic levitation and theorefore does not run on rails. It travels at 320mph.

The fastest proper rail train is a French TGV which achieved a speed of over 400kph during a test run. But it doesn't do this speed in regular service due to high energy consumption and physical wear and tear. The maximum speed attained in regular service appears to have leveled out at approx 320kph.

  4. Chinas magnetic levitation train built by a joint venture between china-germany. If it wasn't for cost they have the technology to build one that would hit 500 mph. plus This new one hits well over 200 mph.

  5. the fastest train in the world is one of the bullet trains that are located in Japan. they can go up to 180 mph but stay around 160

  6. For traditional wheel/rail-trains the speed record is held by the French TGV with 553km/h (343.6mph). In normal passenger traffic these trains operate at up to 330km/h (205mph).

Magnetic levitation trains are able to reach even higher speeds: the record is held by a Japanese experimental MagLev-train with 581km/h (361mph). However there is only one Maglev-train in passenger operation today, the Shanghai airport line, using the "Transrapid" system developed in Germany. This train operates at 430km/h (267mph)
